In 2023 I was determined to get back into the habit of reading and set myself a goal of a book a month, which I met. So this year I stepped things up a bit and almost doubled it to 20. And, well... I completely smashed it! 75 freakin' books!! Even I can't believe it. I know compared to many others it's a drop in the ocean, but for me it's a huge achievement. I finally feel like I'm getting back to being myself with my nose/ears in a book.
Looking through It's really interesting to see just how much my work impacts my personal time - you can see the point at which a big project started and the books dropped off to one a month, and then when it went full steam ahead once the project was done. I have a bunch of reading goals in mind for 2025 (which I'll post about later) but my main goal for the year is balance, and to not let work take over my personal time!
This is also my first year using The Story Graph, and I've got to say, I really like it. And not just because it gives me this neat little summary graphic!
The in-depth overall wrap-up is also fantastic and really digs into some interesting information. For example, I've been trying to read more diversely, so I'm really stoked to see that my reading of LGBTQA+ books has made it on to the charts. And I quite like seeing that, while I do have a strong preference for fantasy and romance books, I do like different themes in those genres.
For the full list of books I read this year, including ratings and reviews and more interesting info, check out my Story Graph (and feel free to follow while you're there, if you're so inclined!).
For now, though, I hope you have been able to read some wonderful stories this year.
